Food: The food at Cameron Trading Post is a mix of American and Mexican cuisine. It sits right outside the Grand Canyon in Cameron, Arizona, so it's the host to many tourists passing through. There is something for everyone on the menu, but lots to try out if you want to be a bit more adventurous.
Drinks: General fountain drinks, but really yummy milkshakes. A specialty milkshake that was delicious is 'The Cactus Jack'- made with prickly pear fruit!
Decor: When I was in Phoenix, we set aside some time to do a full day excursion tour to the Grand Canyon. We drove up and made stops along the way in Sonoma and at the Cameron Trading Post to get food and refuel. The restaurant is located in an old time trading post. It's located in a huge store that specializes in Native American Crafts. This is the perfect place to buy souvenirs when visiting the Grand Canyon (I got a shirt and some gifts for my family here). Cameron Trading Post is very old and has history in itself. Established in 1916, it also serves as a motel and RV park. It really is the perfect rest stop for those passing through.
My fav: The "Navajo Taco" is the famous dish here- their specialty Navajo fried bread is topped with ground beef, chili beans, lettuce, cheese, tomato, and mild green Chile. It's a local Native American inspired dish and it really is delicious! I paired it with "The Cactus Jack" milkshake and it made for a tasty meal that incorporated local flavors and bites!
