The Cake Bake Shop

Updated: Nov 28, 2019

Food: The ultimate bakery. Cakes. Pies. Cookies. Bars. Macaroons. Ice Cream. And for an extra special touch, everything is coated in edible glitter. Full disclosure, I've never been here for lunch or dinner, only the desserts. They have a full food menu that also sounds wonderful, filled with sandwiches, salads, and cheese plates, but once you see the desserts, you'll see why you can't enter the shop without snagging one. They are all absolutely stunning and so, so tasty- just ask Oprah or The Food Network, where some of the desserts have been featured!

Drinks: Yummy coffee menu in addition to their own lemonades and sodas. The Cake Bake Shop has a full array of specialty latte's that go the extra mile with additions like bits of lavender coating the Lavender Latte, rose petals on the Rose Latte, talented latte art designed with the latte foam, and of course, edible glitter specs on top.

Decor: The Cake Bake Shop is extra in all the best ways possible. Gwendolyn Rogers has created such an elegant experience for her guests that is magical and enchanted from the minute you enter the door. This lovely space has so many events it is perfect for: a classy young child's birthday party, a bridal shower, afternoon coffee or tea with friends, or a baby shower, just to name a few suggestions. The possibilities are endless. I took my sister here for an early birthday when she came to visit and she became obsessed, just as I am. There are two locations in Indy. The Broad Ripple Village location is the original and is a smaller house converted into a bake shop, designed with sparkling lights and flowers that alternate (same as the menu) according to the season. The Carmel location is larger with multiple rooms more suited for a sit down meal, with a separate dessert counter and space. Both spots have the same quality of food and the same gorgeous designs. You truly feel like a princess when you're here because they treat the clientele like royalty and it's probably the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been to.

My fav: Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Box Cake and The Honeybee Latte. But honestly, you can't go wrong with anything you get. I hope to be back and cross a few more desserts off my list next time!
