City Tavern

Food: We visited City Tavern to grab a drink, so I sadly didn’t have any food off the menu, but I will definitely be back! They have really awesome food options that fit right in with the colonial theme such as mushroom toast, braised rabbit, and tavern lobster pie. Very authentic food that was popular in the colonial days!

Drinks: The Ales of the Revolution Flight is amazing! Each beer is paired with a different founder father- Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist Ale, Poor Richard’s Tavern Spruce, Thomas Jefferson’s 1774 Tavern Ale, and General Washington’s Tavern Porter. This was so fun and such a unique idea to combine a beer tasting with history! They also have other delicious drink options like hot apple cider and egg nog.

Décor: City Tavern transports you right back to colonial days from the servers, to the music, to the seating. It’s such a historic destination that I recommend checking it out when you’re visiting Philadelphia. History, good food, and good ambiance make this a must-stop when exploring the city!

My fav: The beer flight was a hit! If I would have ordered food, I would choose between the Colonial Turkey Pot Pie, the “Apple-Wood Smoked” Pork Chop, or the Medallions of Beef Tenderloin.
