Mama's Fish House

Updated: Nov 27, 2019

Food: At Mama's Fish House, the menu changes everyday because the fish is caught fresh that morning. Whatever the fishermen catch is brought back and prepared that evening. It makes the dining experience so exciting and unique because you can't always guarantee what they will be serving. It also pays homage to how incredible and creative these chefs are. Now the quality of the food- my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Obviously the fish just melts in your mouth, perfectly grilled vegetables that were crunchy, but not overcooked. For dessert, Liliko'i Creme Brûlée, cookies with coconut ice cream, and Kuau Chocolate Pie.

Drinks: The "Bali Hai". As it says on the website: "Sailing across South Pacific, the family's evening cocktail. Tahitian Lime and light rum with a sugar cane." To me, it tasted like a frozen margarita, but I have never in my life had a frozen margarita like this. The consistency of the ice and the flavor were so spot on that I could live off these. Generally, I don't really like margaritas if we're being honest, but this cocktail was the most delicious drink I've ever had. It had a real piece of sugar cane in it! And the after dinner fresh pressed coffee that you pour yourself at the table?! It settled the dinner so nicely, and was the appropriate ending to an already unforgettable experience.

Decor: Well, folks. We made it. My favorite restaurant in the world. Mama's Fish House on Maui. The perfect vibe. The perfect food. The perfect staff. Every perfect course. Every aspect for a perfect atmosphere and dining experience. It's all open air and right on the ocean. It's designed like you're in a tree house looking out onto the Hawaiian waters around you. My friends and I who were here for work decided to go all in for this meal. We went for the full experience. Drinks, appetizer, main course, desert, and after dinner coffee. This was no joke. Also, keep in mind, we could only get a reservation for about 9:30 at night because it's so popular. It fills up so quickly that we had to be seated extra late. We were the last ones there, but the staff was in no rush to kick us out! They were so friendly and hospitable. We chatted with our waiter who told us he is a surfer during the day, then works at Mama's Fish House at night. Brb picking up and moving and gonna do the same thing.

My fav: Mama's Fish House. I will do whatever I can to get back to this restaurant at some point in my life because this is the reason why I started this blog. This wasn't just good food, this was an overall dining experience, and that's what we all hope for when we go out to eat isn't it? Every aspect made this what it was. I had some of the best food of my life, at my favorite place in the whole world- that's why this place is the best in my opinion.
